AHA Big Brew, club event, pt. 5 of 5

The Regal Pale Ale variant required approximately half a gallon of makeup water to get right to 5 gallons. The OG came out at 1.052, with a published recipe expected OG of 1.054. It is currently fermenting happily this morning with plenty of good airlock activity. Can't wait to try it out and see what this "Fruity, wine like" Nelson Sauvin hop is all about.

Edit (5/13/14): The beer was transferred to secondary with a SG of 1.012 (OG 1.052, currently 5.24% ABV) where it was dry hopped with 1 oz of Cascade (US) and 1 oz of Nelson Sauvin (NZ)

AHA Big Brew, club event, pt. 1

Transfered last week's American Amber Ale (Almost 10B) to secondary, heated the mash water for the Regal Pale Ale variant, and added the hot water to the malt! The Regal Pale Ale is mashing away with an initial temp of 156.9 F.
